Ficam Insect Bait
Ficam Insect Bait
Ficam Insect Bait, manufactured by Solutions Pest and Lawn, is a granular insecticide bait made with 5.0% orthoboric acid that controls many different outdoor and indoor crawling insects like snails or slugs.
This product can be applied with a spreader, bulb duster or dispersed from the jug in areas that need treatment. When applied, this bait product is resistant to weather and works when ingested by the pests like carpenter ants or slugs. When snails and other labeled pests ingest the bait they are killed off within 4 weeks.
Ficam Insect Bait can be used as an effective prevention method to keep pests like silverfish, various ant species, cockroaches and other labeled pests from getting into a home or building structure. Ficam Insect Bait will protect trees and plants from snails and slugs.
Tools Needed
Ficam Insect Bait comes ready to use and can be shaken out from the container. You may need a measuring cup or weighing scale to help measure out the amount of product you will use.
To cover large outdoor areas, it is recommended you use a handheld granule spreader. For crack and crevice treatments, you will need to use a bulb duster.
How to Use
- Step 1: Inspect the property inside and out to know which crawling pest you have and what areas need to be treated. For broadcast rates, you will need to determine your treatment area's square footage. Do this by measuring the length and width in feet, and then multiplying them together (length x width = square feet.) For most applications, Ficam Insect Bait can be broadcasted at a varying rate of 2 to 4 pounds per 1,000 square feet (3.2 to 6 oz. per 100 sq. ft.) depending on the pest you are treating and the area you are applying the product in. So if you measured a treatment area of 150 sq. ft., then you would need to use between 4.8 to 9 oz. of Ficam. To treat ant mounds, apply 0.5 to 1 oz. per ant hill.
- Step 2: Measure out the amount of product you are going to apply. Do not use any measuring cups meant for food. When you are ready to apply, hold the product 4 to 5 inches above the ground and shake the granules out. For perimeter treatments, apply the product in a 2 to 4 foot band around the outside of the structure.
- Step 3: To treat ant hills, sprinkle the Ficam granules directly on the anthill and the surrounding area for full coverage.
Where to Use
Ficam Insect Bait can be used indoors and outdoors. For indoor use, the insect bait can be applied in attics, behind and underneath appliances, within wall voids, under elevators and behind wall sockets. It can also be used in insect bait stations.
For outdoor use, the insect bait can be applied around the perimeter of homes or building structures, trees, woodpiles, and other locations where insects may nest. It can also be used on larger areas such as sports fields and recreational areas.
When to Use
When Ficam Insect Bait is used indoors in areas with low disturbance, the insect bait will last for up to 2 years. For outdoor use, Ficam Insect Bait can be used as a preventative method and applied in early spring before planting season and before damage to plants has occurred. It can also be applied as an intervention method to control for insects when noticed. Ficam Insect Bait can be applied every 4 to 6 weeks for outdoor insect control.
Safety Information
Ficam Insect Bait is safe for humans and pets when used according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Keep out of reach from children and animals.
Special Considerations
Ficam Insect Bait is weather and moisture resistant, making it an excellent product to control pests indoors and outdoors. When applying outdoors, avoid watering immediately after you apply the product for the best control.
This product is a ready-to-use granular insecticide that will treat a variety of crawling pests. Most active infestations cannot be controlled through the use of one product. Depending on what pest you are treating, you may need to use Ficam Insect Bait with residual insecticides like Supreme IT or FiPro Foaming Aerosol, a flushing agent like Pyrid, and an insecticidal dusts in order to gain complete control.
