Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator
Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator
Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator, manufactured by Kaput Scimetrics, is a specially designed tool to help make it easier to apply gopher bait to the subsoil when attempting to control gopher invasions.
This easy to use bait applicator is made and constructed from heavy-duty steel, which gives it added resistance and durability that should last a lifetime.
Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator applies the bait directly into the tunnels and runways that pocket gophers create, and unlike manual applications, it has the benefit of creating an application that won’t disrupt their tunnels too much or create any type of bait aversion.
Tools Needed
There are no additional tools needed to use the Kaput-D Big Boy Applicator but you may need a shovel to dig mounds and probe for areas to place bait and you also need gopher bait.
How To Use
- Step 1: Before beginning your gopher application you must first identify the mounds as either gopher or mole mounds. Gopher mounds are different than mole mounds in that they are fan-sized and often times kidney shape or horseshoe-shaped. Mole mounds tend to be circular.
- Step 2: To load the Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator you’ll want to pull out and up on the latch located on the loading lid, Once the lid has been opened, pour in about 3.75 pounds of bait. Remember to dispose of any bait that falls on the ground, as it can prove deadly to livestock and non-target animals. After pouring the bait, close the lid making sure the latch is back in place.
- Step 3: With applicator loaded, you’ll want to stand in front of your pocket gopher mounds. Standing in front of the plug, move back about 6 to 10 inches, and start probing the ground. You’ll know that you have found a tunnel if the ground below you offers little resistance and the applicator sinks deep underground. Once you have found the tunnel or runway, you’ll want to rotate the handle twice from left to right to dispense of the bait underground.
- Step 4: When you turn the handle from left to right, the tip of the Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator will open up and the bait that was previously loaded will fall around the tunnel ensuring only the pocket gophers will get to the bait. Once you turn the handle from right to left, the opening found at the tip of the applicator will close, and no more bait will be dispensed.
- Step 5: Apply bait in five places for each mound using this method, but remember not to exceed the maximum amount recommended per acre, or per application, stated on the label of the pocket gopher bait you have chosen.

Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator can be used around homes, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and public buildings, near or bordering crops (alfalfa, forage, hay, vegetables, and grains), in rangelands, in orchards, and non-crop areas (forestry, plantations, golf courses, lawns and other turf areas including parks and around agricultural buildings.

Q:Step 3 indicate where to probe for gopher tunnels but where would you probe for mole tunnels relative to the round (not horseshoe) mounds? Is the same bail effective for moles? If not, what is the best bait for moles. Also, how is this different than the Yard Butler Gopher/mole bait applicator on Amazon for $60 only? Thanks.12/28/23A:Kaput-D Big Boy Gopher Bait Applicator is specifically for gopher bait. We do not sell the Yard Butler so it would be best to speak to the manufacturer for more specifics regarding that tool. You would have to read the label of your selected bait to see if it can be used for moles. Q:The new bait requires 1/2 cup how much does the tool release?6/30/18A:I can't tell you an exact amount but it releases an amount based on how far you open the release. I bought a 10 pound bucket of bait and filled up the entire container. I have only refilled the container once and have more than half the bucket left.

Q:How long is the probe? I mean how deep does the applicator go to reach the deeper gopher burrows ?3/27/18A:It will reach the tunnel. You don't go into the mound, you go around the edge of the mound until the probe goes down easily, that will be the tunnel. Then you try to follow the tunnel to deliver more bait.

Q:How do you know you're in the hole without digging? Did you find this tool effective?1/1/17A:Are you asking how you know if you are in the gopher run? These holes will be plugged with soil after the gopher is done feeding at a location. Look for fresh, plugged "feeder holes" with grass or other plants chewed or eaten around perimeter of hole.
