Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh Exclusion, manufactured by Solutions Pest & Lawn, is a pliable and easy-to-use copper mesh wool material that is excellent to use for exclusion measures and IPM (integrated pest management).

The Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh Exclusion can be used to stop rodents, birds, and other unwanted pests from entering homes or buildings by creating a barrier via stuffing the knitted copper wire material into any voids or points of entry around structures.

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh Exclusion is softer than stainless steel mesh and is resistant to corrosion and rust from various elements. The copper mesh material is able to stop rodents such as rats from entering buildings, because it is difficult for rodents to chew through and destroy the mesh. Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh Exclusion is water-resistant, bacteria-resistant, and heat tolerant.

Tools Needed

To use Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh, you will need a regular pair of household scissors, a razor knife, or a pair of tin snips to cut the mesh to specific lengths to suit your needs.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Locate all spaces or voids that need to be filled and cut the Stuf-Fit copper mesh to fit these spots. These can be weep holes, areas around plumbing, and other possible points of entry for pests.
  • Step 2: Using a cutting tool, snip off the amount of copper mesh you need for the opening.
  • Step 3: Work the Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh into the voids you wish to fill. You do not have to completely fill the void; just enough to keep out the pests. For example, if you have a space around a drain pipe under a sink, you will cut enough of it to wrap around the pipe twice. Push the mesh into the void for a snug fit.

Where to Use

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh placed in spigot

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh can be used in any void or space that a rodent could use to enter the structure. This includes weep holes, cracked brickwork, extra space around plumbing and electrical wires that penetrate walls, around drain pipes under sinks, and voids along eaves.

When to Use

Use Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh whenever you have noticed any spaces or voids around the structure. This is a great option for when a void might be too big for caulk or a different sealant to handle or where repairs might not be feasible.

Safety Information

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh is safe to use, but do your best to keep this out of the reach of children and pets. When cutting the mesh, do so over a trash can as copper fibers may drop and contaminate sensitive areas. As with any metal product, cutting the mesh may leave sharp edges. Take precautions and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and safety glasses.

Special Considerations

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh is a great exclusionary product. But for an active rodent infestation, additional rodent control measures should be followed, such as using traps, rodenticides, and proper sanitation. For added exclusion, you can follow up your copper mesh installation with sealing the void using a foam sealant.

While this product will last for extended periods of time, you will want to check the areas treated with Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh at least once a year.

Keith's Pro Tips"It is possible for the Stuf-Fit copper mesh to fall out of a void or space if it was not stuffed tight and snug. A great option is to stuff the mesh into a void and then seal off the void with a sealant or with structural repair. This will give added protection and ensure rodents will be unable to enter."

Good value to help keep out nice
Purchased to help keep out mice in my camper. Not really a mesh like the steel mesh, more like small links chained together. Should work but will see come spring. Good value, shipped fast.

  2. Q:Can this Copper Mesh be wrapped around low voltage wire splices, held in place with a few wraps of electrical tape on a golf course irrigation system to protect the wire insulation from gophers chewing on it? This fall we will be installing an irrigation system with 2 wire decoder controls in the sand hills of Nebraska that has a large population of pocket gophers. We will install the majority of the wire in armored HDPE conduit but will have 3,800 exposed splices at sprinklers and junction boxes. The copper mesh looks more pliable / friendly than ridged stainless steel mesh. Please advise, thanks!

  8. Q:Can i put this in a rat burrow so none come back?
    3/14/21
A:Unless the burrow has solid sides that the rats cannot dig around, it may not help much. If the burrow is in dirt, they might simply dig around the mesh. Let us know how it turns out.

  9. Q:Can I stuff this under my electric base board heater? This is the only way for the mice to enter my home, and I am in desperate need of something for rodent control. If this isn't the best option I would love other recommendations! Please!
    2/13/21
A:I used it to plug the spaces around a pipe coming into my house to keep mice out. Has worked very well. Don’t know why you couldn’t use it for your purpose, as long as you can find their access point from outside.

  10. Q:I am curious if this will work as a base to cover dirt floor of a greenhouse to keep mice from entering via tunneling? Can it be damaged if you put gravel over it?
    2/3/21
A:The gravel may abraid the mesh. Could place it below the surface of the dirt.
