MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor), manufactured by Quali Pro, is high quality post-emergent granular herbicide that removes broadleaf and grassy weeds in cool-seasoned grasses.

This product is the generic version of the popular herbicide brand, Manor Herbicide. MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) is specifically formulated with the active ingredient metsulfuron-methyl 60.0%, which travels through the plant roots to stunt their growth. As a result, complete weed death occurs within a couple of weeks with no possibility of regrowth from leftover plant material.

MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) is a professional-grade post-emergent weed killer that stops weed growth and betters the aesthetic appearance of lawns and golf courses.

Tools Needed

To apply MSM Turf Herbicide, you will need to use a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or professional skid sprayer. When treating small areas we recommend using the handheld pump sprayer.

How to Use

Pump Sprayer application of MSM Turf Herbicide

  • Step 1: Determine how much MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply the length and width together (length X width = square footage). For acerage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the weed and type of turf, apply between 0.125 to 1 oz. of MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) in 20-80 gallons of water per acre of ornamental turf, golf courses, and sod farms. For non-agricultural uses, use 1/3 to 4 oz. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre. For spot applications on established grasses in rangelands, use 1 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Begin agitating the sprayer and then add half the amount of water and measured amount of MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) to the spray tank. As soon as the product is thoroughly mixed in the water, begin adding more water to the spray tank. Continue to agitating process and add any additional label approved ingredients at this time.
  • Step 4: Apply MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) mixture to the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not the point of runoff. Another application may be needed within 4 to 6 weeks.

Where to Use

MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) can be applied to cool-seasoned turf in ornamental turf, such as lawns, parks, cemeteries, and golf courses (fairways, aprons, tees, and roughs). It may also be used for non-agricultural use such as sod farms.

When to Use

Apply MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) when weeds are young and at least 2-3 inches in height. Turf should be well-established at time of application and not experiencing any stress from drought, insects, disease, cold temperatures, or high temperatures.

Do not apply to turf less than 1 year old.

Do not plant ornamentals such as shrubs and trees in treated areas for at least 1 year after the last application, or bedding plants for at least 2 year

Safety Information

MSM Turf Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets to enter treated areas until the sprays have dried.

Special Considerations

Results made by MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) are slowed down by cold or frozen soil when scheduling the application intervals, it is suggested to make the first application in spring to early summer.

If applications are made in late summer, MSM Turf Herbicide should not be applied again until the spring of the following year.

Great herbicide
This works really well in my lawn. We have a large property near edge of subdivision and see a lot of different weeds. This takes care of most of them
Easy Mix Instructions
I see a lot of folks confused about how much MSM to mix per gallon. I add 1 gram MSM per gallon of water for Buttonweed and it burns down in 2-3 weeks. DON’T SPRAY ON HOT DAYS IN SUMMER. Spray early morning or late afternoon. It will stunt St Aug but it will recover in 2-3 weeks.
Kills most weeds and is much cheaper than Celsius.
Not effective on sedges.
THIS STUFF WORKS....
I have previously used Atrizine, (~$16 per quart), to control my Dollar weeds. It did work "OK", but, was not lawn friendly. A bottle of Atrizine would give me several applications for basically the same price as the MSM Turf product, which would provide 40 - 1.5 gallons of mix using 1.5 grams per 1.5 gallons of water. I also just started using the Vision Pro Max Indicator Dye - using .5 ounces per 1.5 gallons, to let me know where I have applied the MSM Turf. After just a few days, the Dollar weeds are yellowing and will be gone in a week or two. For the performance and price of this MSM Turf product, I can totally recommend this as THE product to kill your dollar weeds....
Works FAST.
VERY Economical - 40 - 1.5 gallons of mix per 2 oz bottle - ~ 16 dollars.
Does not harm ST. Augustine grass.

Kills Bahaia Grass
Years ago, while looking for something to kill crabgrass, a hardware store lady said she had something that would kill Bahaia grass. I jumped at the chance. She said she used 1/8 teaspoon in a two-gallon sprayer. I learned there is no need to use more than 1/4 teaspoon per 2 gallons water and to simply get plants wet--not just mist the plants. I spray when grass is dry so I can see where I have been.

This kills other stuff and saves my Bermudagrass, but MSMA seems to be a more effective product for a wider variety of plants. MSMA is also more expensive. Either kills Bahaia.

Kills ryegrass in Bermuda
Our lawn guy seeded our whole Bermuda yard with ryegrass seed without our permission in the winter. It grew 10x faster and the yard was shaggy 4-5" within 2-3 days of mowing. By day 7, out of control. Sprayed this in a pump sprayer 3 days before mowing. Ryegrass immediately stopped growing and fully died in 10 days leaving the Bermuda unharmed

MSM really works
My weeds are crazy wild. Applied MSM Turf, nothing! The next few days I see brown where my green weeds were. A few days later more brown. The longer I waited the more visible the dried weeds were. I also like the fact that I was not dragging around a 40 pound bag of weed and feed. The mixing was a little tricky but I figured it out for my 9 gallon sprayer. I love MSM Turf !

  1. Q:I have a large zoysia yard. I’m having a problem with both southern dewberry and annual blue-eyed grass. Will this product kill these.
    3/20/24
A:No, it will not control these weeds. Keep in mind that this product is labeled for dewberry, but it is more for common dewberry species and southern dewberry is more of a specific foliage.

    3/20/24
  2. Q:I have centipede grass that is established but coming out of dormancy. Can I use this now or do I need to wait until the grass is actively growing? We are current in the 70s here for highs. How cold is too cold at night for this?
    3/15/24
A:You can make applications at any time of the year for centipedegrass as long as its well-established and it is completely out of dormancy and the ground is not frozen. If the soil is cold then the effects will be slowed down so for this reason it's best to make applications in the day rather than the night.

  3. Q:Can I use MSM Turf on my centipeed lawn now(March)?
    3/13/24
A:Yes, you can use MSM Turf on your centipede lawn now. Be sure to treat your lawn when its well-established, older than 1 year, and not experiencing additional stress from drought, insects, diseases, and cold temperatures.

    3/14/24
  4. Q:I have 10 acres. Fescue, bermuda. Being overrun with Foxtail. At what point in the foxtail growth period would this be applied and at what mixture? thanks
    3/5/24
A:Apply 0.5 to 1 oz. of MSM Turf Herbicide in 20-80 gallons of water per acre to remove foxtails from fescue and bermudagrass. Do not exceed a total of 0.5 oz of product per acre within a 9-month period. You can treat foxtails at any point in the year as long as the ground is not frozen, and the turf is well-established and healthy. Be sure foxtails are at least 2-3 inches in height at the time of application or make applications when you see them actively growing.
