Meteor IGR, manufactured by Control Solutions Inc, is a insect growth regulator that effectively controls flea infestations.
The active ingredient in Meteor IGR is s-methoprene 1.2%, which works to prevent fleas from maturing into reproducing adults.
Designed to stop the development of adult fleas, Meteor IGR should be mixed with a contact insecticide that will provide the knockdown of fleas for immediate control. Meteor IGR will work at preventing adult flea development for up to 210 days.
Tools Needed
To use Meteor IGR, you will need to mix the product in a hand pump sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Mix 1oz of Meteor IGR with 1 gallon of water in a pump sprayer. Add half amount of water needed, add Meteor IGR (and adulticide if desired), agitate/shake to mix, add remaining water, then agitate/shake to combine. Apply Meteor IGR at the rate of 1 gallon of diluted spray solution per 1,500 sq. ft. of surface area.
- Step 2: Spray mixture to areas where flea eggs flea larva or fleas are likely to be present. Areas to spray, but not limited to, pet beds, pet kennels/cages, upholstered furniture, carpets, and rugs. Use a fan spray for best coverage.
- Step 3: Repeat as needed every 6-7 months.
Where to Use
Meteor IGR may be used in areas where flea eggs, flea larvae or fleas are likely to be present including but not limited to pet quarters, pet beds, pet kennels, pet cages, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, tile, hardwood, bedrooms.
When To Use
Use Meteor IGR when you have encountered flea infestations indoors. It is also best to apply Meteor IGR before flea season to prevent infestations.
Safety Information
Meteor IGR is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
DO NOT TREAT PETS DIRECTLY with this product.
Special Considerations
If adult fleas are currently present an adulticide such as Vectorban Plus or D-Fense SC should be added to quickly control the adult fleas. Meteor IGR will not typically stain surfaces but a test application should be made before complete coverage of an area.
