Some of the more sneaky and hard-to-control weeds are those annual grassy weeds that you often see in lawns like crabgrass, goosegrass, barnyardgrass and oxalis. There has to be a way to get rid of these stubborn plants and take back your lawn which doesn’t involve yanking them out by hand. The good news is that there is: Solutions Pest & Lawn’s grassy weed killing products.
We here at Solutions have the experience and know-how to take care of grassy weeds and we carry the best products on the market to execute those weeds. Our experts first suggest that you tackle weeds with a solid pre-emergent herbicide that we recommend be applied in the springtime. This would prevent seed germination, keeping them from sprouting. If annual grassy weeds have already sprouted than a control product like MSMA Target 6 Herbicide or MSMA Turf Herbicide would work greatly.
Grassy Weed Control: 4 Step Solution
Controlling grassy weeds doesn't have to be such a frustrating challenge if you know the right techniques and have the right tools at your disposal to make things easier on you. That's where we can help by sharing with you our simple to execute 4 Step Solution and by giving you our top recommendations of selective and non-selective herbicides that will get the job done. Follow these directions and you will have a lawn to be proud of once again.
Step 1: The best way to combat these unsightly grassy weeds is to learn about them. Once you have learned how they function and what conditions they thrive in, then you can work to deprive them of what they love and show those irritating weeds that they aren’t welcome in your yard. If you have trouble identifying a weed on your property, send us a photo at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help you identify your problem weed as well as give you instructions on controlling it.
Step 2: Select a herbicide that is best to treat the particular type of grassy weed you have. We recommend herbicides such as MSM Turf Herbicide, or Quinclorac 75 DF Herbicide if you are dealing with crabgrass. We also have focused products for nutsedge and johnsongrass if you are dealing with those hard-to-control weeds.
Step 3: Using your selected herbicide, spot treat weeds using a small pressure sprayer. If you have larger patches we recommend using a 1 or 2 gallon tank sprayer or even a tank sprayer if the weeds on your lawn have gotten severely out of control.
Step 4: In the springtime, use a pre-emergent to spread over your lawn like Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide. Timing is everything. The treatment prevents the seeds from germinating. If you wait too long, the seeds will sprout. Apply pre-emergent too early and the preventer will dissipate and late germinating seeds will sprout.
