Rid Your Space of Unwanted Pests with Rodent Traps

posted this on Oct 8, 2016

Rodents can be difficult pests to get rid of. They don’t need much space to get into your home and once they are there, they are usually there to stay. Rodents can most likely be found invading your attics, basements, garages, and other areas that may have clutter. Rodent traps are the best way to get rid of those unwanted and dangerous pests.

Traps that Exterminate

Traditional snap-style traps, glue traps, and humane cage or live animal traps are all common and useful options to consider if you want to trap those rodents in or around your home. To help make these contraptions even more useful, you should consider using bait in conjunction with your traps. There are many bait options that will suit most any kind of rodent you are experiencing. Pellets are the traditional single-feed style bait that is very effective and can be used virtually anywhere you suspect rodents. Block baits are even more potent than pellets and these are particularly useful on rats because they are more potent and attractive to rats.

How to Use Rodent Traps

When you are dealing with an infestation of rodents either in or near your home, you will want to employ the most effective traps possible. Knowing how to use these traps is the key to success.  Snap traps are easy to adjust, just be sure to check the sensitivity of the trigger. You want to make sure they are sensitive enough to snap shut when the rodent feeds or touches the trigger.

Bait can easily be attached to the trigger. It can be poisonous or it can be simple non-poisonous bait like a piece of an apple or peanut butter. If you have two traps, set them side by side for better results. To make sure the contraptions operate properly, keep it maintained by oiling it occasionally with mineral oil. Be sure to keep your traps away from other insecticides or chemicals because they can prime the traps with a repellent odor.
