Baiting and trapping are two of the most effective means of rodent control. With bait, the rodents eat the poison bait and then day sometime later (it might be a couple of days). The rodents can die anywhere, often in their nest. With traps, the rodents are attracted to bait in the traps, then once they enter the traps are killed (snap traps) or stuck there (in the case of live traps).

One of the most effective types of rodent bait is Kaput bait. The company that makes Kaput, Scimetrics, is a family-operated business that believes in extensive rodent research to determine the best rodent control formulation.

One of the concerns people often have about rodent bait is that children, pets, or other non-target animals (animals other than the rodents) will eat the bait and get sick or die. Kaput bait is a reduced-risk rodenticide that is formulated with warfarin, a highly effective rodent poison with very low environmental or secondary toxicity. It is effective rodent control at very low concentrations, which means that it’s less likely to harm children, pets, or other animals. Also, Kaput bait is formulated such that in case of accidental ingestion, the antidote is simply Vitamin K (which is readily available over the counter).

In cases where rodent control bait is ineffective, it’s often because the home or business owner hasn’t put out enough bait, the bait has become degraded or moldy (because it has been left out too long), or it’s simply not attractive to the rodents. Kaput bait is formulated with paraffin, which makes the bait moisture-resistant (less likely to get moldy and degrade). Plus, it’s made with high-quality grains that ensure the rodents will continue to come back for more until they’re dead.

At Solutions Pest & Lawn you’ll find Kaput bait as well as a range of other rodent control supplies.
