At Solutions, we know all about creepy-crawlers. So we’ve made you a handy list of 5 of the most common pests in Texas, which are:

  • Ants
  • Mosquitoes
  • Spiders
  • Beetles
  • Fleas

KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN DEALING WITH THESE COMMON TEXAS PESTS.

Bugs are everywhere, an unfortunate reality for those of us who are bit more critter sensitive, but not everywhere comes with the same collection of pests. If you’re dealing the Texas’ most common critters, it’s important to know what to expect.

Critter #1: Ants

Ants are everywhere; it’s a fact of life. You’re just going along when you step on a fire ant mound and before you know it fifty of them are halfway up your leg, biting you all the way. Save yourself the pain, literally, and keep an eye out for their unsightly mounds when traipsing across the lawn.

Critter #2: Mosquitoes

Every outdoorsman’s nightmare! No one likes to go camping or spend an evening with friends around a campfire only to come in and find your arms and legs covered with itch red bumps. Unfortunately, mosquitoes are a year-round annoyance. Since they are most active between dusk and dawn, be sure to cover up and protect yourself.

Critter #3: Spiders

With so many types of spiders, you’re bound to cross paths with a few every now and again. Fortunately, most spiders are just creepy to look at. Unfortunately, there are some extremely poisonous spiders in the area as well. Look out for Black Widows and Brown Recluse, and always be cautious of sticking your hands into nooks and crannies. If you see a black spider with a red hourglass on its belly or a spider with a violin-shaped marking running down its back, steer clear!

Critter #4: Beetles

Beetles are another one of those unavoidable bugs. There are tons of different types of beetles out there, but the ones you’re most likely to come across are flea beetles and cucumber beetles, both of which will be more than happy to wreck your garden.

Critter #5: Fleas

If you’re a pet person, you’ve probably had a fair amount of experience with these little guys. They like to nestle down in grass, carpet, and your pet’s bedding so watch out!
