Ask A Pro: Help with identifying this invasive what-ever-it-is

Camille Landry posted this on Jul 21, 2017

Customer Inquiry:

Good evening the following picture is one of my son’s lawns . . . lawns are hybrid bermuda . . . yellowing is from me spraying for crabgrass, which evidently it’s not . . . invasive stuff is big bladed and green while hybrid around it is yellow from my spraying . . .

I will purchase whatever you determine is best for the job . . . total lawn sizes equal somewhere around 1,600 to 2,000 square feet . . . the Bayer product I used by spot spraying only . . . I’d also be interested in whatever products are recommended for this and next years cycles (autumn, spring, summer, fall, winter) . . . we’re located in Escondido, Ca . . . about 30 miles north of San Diego and approximately 20 miles inland . . .

We verti-cut the lawns this past spring and will be de-thatching in the fall . . .

Thanks in advance for your help

Solutions Response:

You can use MSMA (post control) and Prodiamine (pre-emergent) this fall and spring to prevent any further germination.

This should take care of the issue, please let us know if we can assist you any further.
