Ask A Pro: Customer Dealing With Cicada Killers

Camille Landry posted this on Jul 24, 2017

In this edition of Ask A Pro, we recently had a customer who purchased Reclaim product to take care of grass webworms run into a whole new problem and sought Solutions experts for help. Here's how the exchange went.

Customer Inquiry:

Seems like the grass web worms are better, about to do the second treatment. See the pic below I have had these pop a few times. Let me know what you think.
cicada killer nest
Solutions Response:

Hi Bruce,

This is made by a parasitic wasp called cicada killer. They attack Cicadas and drag them into the holes where then the body is used as a food source for the larvae stage as it develops.

Be sure to apply the Reclaim IT at 1oz per 1000sqft using the hose end sprayer that you purchased. It is important to flood the areas where holes are visible.
Should you have questions, please email or call 713-473-3345.

Customer Followup:
I used the 1 oz bottle on the first treatment so do I need to buy another one?
Solutions Response:  No, moving forward just focus on the Reclaim application.

Sometimes it can be tough trying to identify a problem pest or weed on your own. They may be too small or so unique that you can't make it out. If you send us a picture of your problem pest or weed to identification@solutionsstores.com, we will reply back to you with the proper identification of your issue and give you suggestions and recommendations on the best method of control. Keep this in mind next time you encounter an issue, we're glad to help.
