How to Get Rid of Piss Ants

Most people do not know this, but if their homes and offices are severely infested with ants, then there is a very high chance that a piss ant is the root cause behind this infestation. These little insects may appear to be harmless due to their tiny stature, but if provoked they fight back in numbers! Piss ants are one of the fastest breeders out there as it can actually divide into different colonies in no time at all. Due to their size and the fact that they multiply at such an expedited rate, it can be incredibly difficult to effectively rid your homes or offices from these ants. However, with the right mind set and a push in the right direction you can wage war against these

Rule number of war, know your enemy. Rule number two, never forget your enemy! This is exactly why we have mentioned a little information about piss ants below.

About piss ants

Piss ants are also known as Pharaoh ants and are abundant all around the world as they can adapt to almost any climate. These ants have different colors—from light yellow to black; however, its hindside is what makes it distinguishable from other ants. Piss ants have darker back sides and they normally have some sort of markings that are easily visible from a distance.

This prolific breeder is also commonly known as the sugar ant due to its intense liking for sweet food! These ants never operate on their own. They have to establish a colony in any given environment. Once they have established their nests indoors, it can be very difficult to effectively get rid of these ants. Rest assured, with our tips you will win this difficult battle.

Steps to get rid of piss ants - for good!

Given below are different steps that have been devised to help everyone get rid of piss ants from their homes and offices in no time!

  1. Find the nest

The very first move you have to make in this war is locating the ant’s nests. This can prove to be difficult as piss ants are very smart when it comes to building their nests, however you can easily bait them to find the proximity of the nest. Simply lay out some sweet food and step back, keep an eye on the food for awhile and within no time you will see a trail of ants happily feasting on the food.

After taking a few bites, these ants will then take the food back to their nests and this is when you have to stay on top of things. Simply follow the trail to get an idea where the nest is and keep a safe distance from the trail. Remember, that piss ants can bite but it doesn’t really hurt that much. Once you have located the nest you can move on to the next step, however by now the ants might have an idea that something is about to go down!

  1. Equip yourself with a pesticide

The next step in this process is equipping yourself with a piss ant pesticide which is readily available in any pesticide store in your area. Depending on the severity of the infestation you choose the most effective product out there and we would recommend purchasing two pesticides just in case. Once you have equipped yourself with the pesticide spray, simply point at the nest and let it rip. The ants will start fleeing so make sure you spray each of them as even one survivor can start another colony. However, this step is only effective in cases where the nest is visible as the spray will not be that efficient if you cannot aim it directly at the nest.

Some pesticides we sell here at Solutions Pest & Lawn that are great for addressing piss ants are Reclaim IT and FiPro Foaming Aerosol.

  1. Equip yourself with a pesticide bait

In cases where you have an idea where the nest is but cannot reach it because it is hidden very well inside of a dry wall or other hard to reach areas, the best solution is investing in pesticide bait. Again this bait is readily available in the market and has been particularly designed for piss ants. This bait is sweet and will attract the ants in your home or offices within a short span of time; once they find the bait the ants will carry it back to their nests to feed their queen and fellow comrades.

Little do these ants know that they are carrying back the death of their entire colony, as this bait is actually poisonous for ants. Once they consume the bait these ants will die in a few minutes, we would recommend spraying a pesticide as well to make sure that there are no survivors.

This may come as a surprise to many, but some ants may test the bait before taking it back home. So, always consider investing in a slow reacting pesticide to trick these ants into taking the bait back home.

A great bait we suggest using is  Ant-Trax Ant Gel Bait or Terro PCO Liquid Ant Bait. Both of which you can order on Solutions Pest & Lawn and get shipped to you free.
