Dithiopyr 2L Herbicide (generic Dimension EW herbicide) from Quali-Pro is a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide for control of both grassy and broadleaf weeds in established turf and ornamentals. Its low mix rate and non-staining formulation make it a great alternative to prodiamine.

For Use In

Dithiopyr 2L is for use in established lawns commercial sod farms non-cropland and industrial sites ornamental turf (including golf course fairways roughs tee boxes) container-grown ornamentals and landscape ornamentals.


If using Dithiopyr 2L in Texas apply at a rate of 0.55 to 0.92 ounces per 1,000 square feet or at 1.5 to 2.4 pints per acre. For other specific states and the application rates used refer to label above.

Do not apply more than 0.73 ounces of Dithiopyr 2L per 1,000 square feet per application.

Do not apply more than 2.2 ounces of Dithiopyr 2L per 1,000 square feet per year using split or sequential applications.

If Dithiopyr 2L is used at the maximum rate per application each gallon will cover an estimated 175,000 square feet or approximately 4 acres.

Time to Kill

A good technique to put into practice to properly mix the product is to fill the sprayer or container halfway with water, then add the product, then fill the rest of the container or sprayer with water to ensure proper dilution of the product.


This product may be applied with fluid fertilizers and other herbicides. Before mixing make sure to perform a compatibility test with small portions of the products to make sure the products being mixed are compatible. Check the label for detailed instructions on how to mix this product with other herbicides.


Depending on the time of application, the locations of application, desired control (post-emergent or pre-emergent treatment) different rates apply when using this product. In all applications, you should not apply more than .073 fluid ounces of this product per 1,000 square feet (or two pints per acre) per application.

BEST ANSWER: No, But do keep all children and pets off the area while treating. They can come back out to the area once the treatment has been completed.

BEST ANSWER: The mix rate for dithiopyr 2l is 3/4 ounces per gallon of water. That will treat up to 1000 square feet for spot treatments. If you are doing broadcast application then you would use 1 quart of dithiopyr per acre.
