Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol
Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol
Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol, manufactured by AMVAC, is a aerosol spray that releases enough insecticide to kill insects on contact and through its vapor action, which allows people and pets to safely enter the treated area when its dried.
Specially formulated with the active ingredient dichlorvos 0.5% to control pests that have become resistant to other chemicals like bed bugs. A simple 2 minute spray application ensures reapplication is not necessary until a month after first treatment, making it an economical product.
Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol provides complete control of difficult-to-eliminate pests in those hard to reach areas in various indoor areas. This product is the aerosol version of the popular Nuvan ProStrip products.
Tools Needed
Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol comes ready to use with no other tools necessary for its application.
How to Use

- Step 3: Keep out of treated area for at least 2 hours after application. Apply Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol no more than once a month for continued control.
Where to Use
Nuvan Directed Spray Aerosol can be applied in localized areas of homes, commercial buildings, apartments, cabins, garages, basements, factories, hotels, warehouses and other commercial and industrial buildings. Additional areas include non-food and non-feed areas of food/feed processing, manufacturing and service establishment sites, including lavatories, floor drains, entries and offices.

Q:Can Nuvan Directed Aerosol be used to spray books on a shelf or in a closet?12/7/20A:You shouldn't have any issues if you use the Nuvan spray on books, magazines or paperwork. The Nuvan product doesn't seem to leave any residue behind after an application. I work for an EMS service and we use the Nuvan products frequently in our ambulances and stations. The only precautions we take is with food products and medications. We will even apply a light mist over computers and electronic equipment. If you are still uncertain, try applying a light spray over a book and let it sit for some time to evaluate.

Q:I read that Maybe as not Aerosol does still emit vapors after spraying. Would that be considered residual?9/15/17A:No. Despite being a highly effective insecticide, DDVP breaks down quickly and does not have residual activity. What is the mode of action of NUVAN Directed Spray Aerosol? The active ingredient in NUVAN Directed Spray Aerosol, DDVP, is an organophosphate insecticide. During normal nerve impulse transmission in insects, an impulse is passed from one neuron to another via a substance called acetylcholine. After the impulse is transmitted, acetylcholine must be broken down to prevent additional impulses from being initiated. The enzyme that allows this breakdown to occur is acetylcholinesterase. DDVP inhibits acetylcholinesterase, allowing acetylcholine to continue to induce impulses, which paralyzes the insect’s nervous system and eventually causes death.

Q:I am a little concern on the 'VAPOR ACTION' with this product just because I am wanting to treat inside and I have animals (fish, dogs) What is the recommended air out time length you would suggest when using this indoors?9/14/17A:Keep people and pets out of the area during applications. Only handlers wearing specified PPE may be in the area during application. Do not apply this product in a way that will contact any person or pet either directly or through drift. Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until sprays have dried. Do not reoccupy treated areas for at least two (2) hours.

Q:Can I use Nuvan Aerosol to spray my luggage and travel items so they will kill or prevent bed bugs?9/6/17A:Yes, you can use the Nuvan Aerosol to treat your luggage upon returning from a trip, do this treatment outside of the home or apartment to help prevent accidental contamination. This product has no residual control so it will have no effect to spray before a trip. The active ingredient in NUVAN Directed Spray Aerosol, DDVP, is an organophosphate insecticide. During normal nerve impulse transmission in insects, an impulse is passed from one neuron to another via a substance called acetylcholine. Q:Can I spray my luggage with Nuvan Aerosol to prevent or kill bed bugs?9/6/17A:I do not believe you can use Nuvan Aerosol to treat your luggage. What we would recommend is treating a closet or storage area and then storing your suitcase in that room. It will have the same effect and ensure you get the outside of the suitcase as well.

Q:Does this chemical leave a residual?9/5/17A:No. Despite being a highly effective insecticide, DDVP breaks down quickly and does not have residual activity. Those pests contacted during the application will be killed quickly. Others sufficiently exposed to the treatment will also be killed. The label states: “Apply a two-second application of product per 4-5 linear feet as a localized application…” How much product is actually applied in this manner? A two-second spray will deliver approximately 5 grams of product. Note that there are 28.35 grams in each ounce. As such, the 17-ounce aerosol can contains approximately 96 applications. When applied from a distance of fi fteen inches, the spray swath will be approximately four inches wide.
