A thorough  inspection must be conducted to determine the extent of rodent activity. Aerial habitats should also be inspected in case of possible roof rat inspections. Reducing access points will reduce the chance of free access to the structure. Minimizing accessible food and water and harboring will enhance any other control measures. Rats and Mice are the most common rodent encountered and their biology must be understood prior to implementing any control measures. Rodents are very adaptable to changes in habitat and food supply so populations can increase at alarming rates. Safety equipment must be used in cases where there is a chance of disease transmittal. Common control tools beyond habitual modifications include traps and baits labeled for the sites.
